I need to buy a new tool box for work. My co worker offered me his klr1023 but he won't name a price. What is a good price to pay for a used one with a butcher block top and a stainless top, some dings and scratches, and lots of dust?

https://store.snapon.com/KRL1023-Se...riple-Bank-22-Drawers-Royal-Blue-P651189.aspx

One is listed on cl locally for $4500 with a snap on cart, it is in mint condition and has black paint.

The part of the deal with the coworkers is that he will continue to keep some stuff in it for as long as he works At the same place but since he is a mobile mechanic he doesn't have a ton in it and I won't fill it up anyway.

I sold my KRL 1023 last month for $1000. It had some rust but the paint was still shinny. I would say $1500 to $2000.

SOunds like a real hassle waiting to happen. For a screwy deal like that that can turn ugly in a hurry...maybe $1,000.

Wow...prices around the northeast are way higher....i paid $2250 for my newer style (chrome isocasters) krl1022 2 yrs ago and that was a steal around here. Woulda loved a tripple bank but everyone was asking around 5k and nowhere close. The box i ended up buying was only a 20 min drive away

Ended up buying a KR1100 to use as a topper box last year for $500

I will sell you mine also, But it must stay in my garage, and I will keep my tools in it. But you can own it as long as it is in my garage.
I can see a lot of trouble with that. Good luck...

I'm also in an area where boxes go for way more than what most people on here say they're worth. I agree about that being a potential weird situation but would probably call that a wash for not having to transport it. I'd say 2-3 grand depending on local market & how much you really want it.

That one listed locally sounds like a nice deal to me. Sounds like the one you are looking at is not as nice, and no cart. Even if you don't want the cart, it has value too, you can turn it into some cash.

And realize on the other one for sale, I bet if you took $4000 cash with you, it would probably buy it. So I am thinking the other one has to be less.

I am not into sharing a box, so personally, I would pass.

How about this question... If you are going to turn wrenches the rest of your life and you where in the market for a similar triple bank 70"+ box would you buy a KLR 1023 for around $4000 or would you get something else? Not interested in anything imported. Only looking for a used snap on, Mac, or Matco box. $4000 is the absolute most I want to spend. I prefer a wide triple bank over a narrower box with a top but I am open to suggestions. Keep in mind the market in NJ is allot more expensive than other places.

Check ebay. I've seen a few boxes for good prices in nj. Been tempted but it's a 5 hour drive. There was a really nice 7022 that I watched for a while & it wasn't selling. Also saw a decent looking older triple bank matco that went for $750. Plus there's a guy in Delaware that's always got a few krls.

The picture in the first page is it. I'll post some photos once I put my tools in it.. I doubt I'll even clean it up because I don't want to stay at work longer than I have to and I can't clean it on the clock.
