I just got a server rack from work. Not much for shelving in it. Anyone use an old server rack in their garage? I can put drawers in it, wondering if there might be any other uses.

Compressor won't fit unfortunately, it's horizontal. Damn, that is a good idea though. It sure is a sturdy cabinet.

Dad retired from AT&T. Back in the day scrap was just scrap. They had to pay to haul off stuff. He has several racks. He put shelves in his.

The lift up shelf on my 5 drawer HF cart is from a server hardware company. Rated for 150lbs and is solid as hell.

I have been looking for a short server rack for a long time to make a charge station for all the batteries in my garage.

^ ^ ^ Spyder . . . Nice work !!!

I've got same Compaq server rack that I'm going to setup in basement for all my internet, telecom, server, battery backup needs . . . along with patch panel. Got it on Ebay for around $100 several years ago.

Have another taller one that I'll use for garage like yours. Great idea. ;)

Thought I had replied to Spyder's post. My rack is 34" deep and 7' tall. I was looking at those parts bins on HF, I could put two in per shelf, one on each side.

That's a lot of storage!!!

I wish could find one that is shorter, it would make a nice welding cart at about 4' tall. Lots of room for tanks, vented, and sturdy shelving for a welder(s), plasma cutter, etc.

Plasma Cutter and welder... you have the tools to make that one shorter :)
