Used Snap On Air Compressor

I could be wrong, but aren’t these the same units Amazon and Costco offer? They’re just a homeowner grade compressor.
If that’s all you need I’d get one new from Costco, get the warranty, great return policy and put it on your credit card for the air miles.

I wouldn't be too quick to write this off as homeowner grade. For the past few weeks I've been researching a Mac compressor with a bad motor that I got from a friend. Actually spent way too much time researching, so got to know the specs and differences between a lot of different models.
First thing I noticed when looking at the pic is the size of the motor. That ain't no little 56Y framed 5 HP or 6 HP motor that a Costco model would have. That's a 215T framed, 100 lb plus motor, pushing at least 7 HP....so now we're moving up to big boy territory. Looking at the pump, and keeping the size the the motor in mind, lead me to believe it's more than likely a dual stage with a CFM rating in mid 20's or higher. More big boy goodness. And underneath all that manly muscle is an 80 gallon tank. When you add it all up you've got something that's got big power, can pump on the upstroke and down stroke, and has the size to last all night long without breathing hard. This is something hot chicks drop their ******* over....but don't buy it for that reason only.
Did a quick search on google images, came up with the compressor linked below. I believe it's the exact model. Snap On price is $5k. Probably $3k-$4k from the company that makes it and puts their label on it. The Mac branded compressor I have was made by Bel Air, I didn't research this any further but that would be a good starting point if you wanted to figure it out.

Study it carefully. Look at the sight glass on the pump; very low or very dirty oil isn't a good sign. Not a deal breaker but will give you a little insight.
Look in the motor winding through the cooling openings on the motor. You want to see bright copper all the way around, front side and back. If any of the winding is black, even a small section of it, the motor is no good ($650 to replace).
If all looks good, go for it, and if there's a ********* waiting to see who wins it, go all in.

It’s made by Big Red Air. They are made in Italy if I recall. Not home owner grade, but def not worth the snap premium either !

Why do you think it's 3 phase? What are you seeing that makes you say that?
Look at the top of the motor. See the rectangular shaped part above the round motor housing? That's proof it's single phase, that part contains the start and run capacitors. 3 phase motors don't need start and run capacitors, only single phase do. Look at any 3 phase motor, it's just a round motor without the external humps on top or a big square box on the side. There is a smaller box on the top or side for the electric connections, but no where near the size of the box that capacitors fit in.
