Found this box on my local CL. I don't know the model number. What do you guys think it's worth? Also, can anyone tell a rough age based on logo etc? Thanks.

If my memory is correct that is a kra380/kra59 combo. I would pay $600-$100 depending on condition.

Oh, box is from the 80s.

Hopefully I'll get to go look at it tomorrow night. That's the only picture in the CL ad, but from that it looks ok. Is there anything I should look for when I inspect it? Any common wear or failure points?

Double check the slides. Locks are not too big a deal to replace also. If you can take out the bottom drawer. Famous for rusting in the back corners. I personally would offer 300. My market here is more of a big box market so that is just mhop. Best of luck to you. Either way it is still a good box to have.

Yeah...that's a $300 box. I just turned down a KR560 with many tools inside (decent quality tools) for $600 earlier today. Keep looking.

You guys think that combo should only sell for $300?
I really need to leave the island because that combo would not sell for less than $750 around here in good condition.

If it were here in OKC it would not go for over 300. Most here want the bigger boxes. The market is to whom and where you sell. In OKC you would get it for 2-300. In LA it could maybe fetch 600. No where do I think it goes to 1000. Look around. Even eBay sells for less.

The price range I offered was pretty wide depending really on condition. $1000 was only if the box turned out to be mint. That said I really feel around 600-700 in fair shape is what the box would sell for around here.

Well I guess your area brings in the big bucks. I might have to send you some boxes to sell for me. I usually sell them in LA area, or Seattle. Those 2 right now bring pretty good return on investments.

The price variance across the country is huge. I'd estimate + or - 50% depending on the region.

Well, when I lived in CT I would have been lucky to get $400 for that,

Ok, I just got off the phone with the guy. He was originally asking $500. I offered $350 (pending inspection) and he countered $400. I'm going to check it out tonight. I'm in Philadelphia, PA.

Obviously the dollar amount is variable so here's another question: Is this a good tool box? I know there are better out there, but I'm not looking for something new. I like that it's got some age/patina to it. But I also need it to hold tools, not just look pretty.

i think $400 is a reasonable price.

as mentioned, prices are all over the place, depending on the area you're in.
around here they'd be asking $1000, and would tun down offers of $995
cuz it's a snapon.

If in good shape, $400 all day everyday. Guys around ask $500 for the bottom alone, I don't know if they get it though. Now a 26" box I would be extra hard on condition just due to it smaller size. I would pay $400 for a kr1000 beat to **** if it was still functional.

One thing to add, if that is an eight drawer chest and not the common nine drawer, BUY IT! The eight drawers are two inches deeper and not vey common. I have never seen one in person and only one for sale.

Thanks for the info and opinions, guys. I went out to see it. It's a little rough around the edges but everything works. I went ahead and gave him the $400.

Now I need to know if there are replacement hinges available. Also, one of those clips that hold the drawer to the slide is broken. Does snap on sell those parts or do I have to engineer some kind of DIY fix?

I did a little more searching on the Snap On website today. What I needed wasn't the hinge, but the cover stops and a couple of clips. I found them for KRA59F. I assume that they will fit this one. Once those are in and I can clean and re-grease the slides, it'll be good as new. Now I can start drooling over tools to fill it.
