Used Tire Balancer

There is a local shop selling a 23-year-old Ranger tire balancer. He says it works well. I am concerned about the useful life of one of these, considering it's been in an automotive shop.

Every used Coats balance I ever see for sale is still close to $2000. He is asking $450. I am considering a KATool, which runs right at $1000.

Just curious if anyone has any experiences with the Ranger. Thanks.

Chris

How often do you plan to use it? If your expected use is only occasisonal, I would suggest you ask him to demonstrate its operation to your satisfaction, and not worry so much about longevity. If you expect to use it heavily, that's a different scenario.

Oh , of course he'll have to show me. I'll use it enough to justify the money. I was mainly curious if anyone had experience with a Ranger. He claims he decided to upgrade to a Coats but I bet the Ranger is wearing out. Who really knows. It's a buyer beware you're buying a 23 year old balancer situation.
