Wow! Great find! I never heard of a used tool shop. What's the name of it? My relatives live in northern Il and maybe I can check out that store when I visit them!

The stores I visit are "Re-tool" on State street (Rockford) and "Dan's tool crib" off of Nimtz rd (Loves park).
They inventory turns over quickly. I go about once a month to look for hidden treasures.

I wish we had a used tool shop here.
There you go Richard - an entrepreneurial opportunity to take you into your retirement years.
The store here goes to estate sales (buyout), auctions, business closures and takes walk-ins. Has a good variety of tools. I bought a used Porter Cable Framing air nailer that shoots 2-1/2' nails for $65 with a buy back guarantee (2/3 of what I paid).

That Indestro ratchet is an outstanding user. I have the same one and use it all the time. I would put it up against a modern Snap-On any day. Nice grab.

Wow! I used to live in Stillman Valley when I was a lot younger, then moved to Joliet. That used tool shop idea sounds like a great idea if one wanted to start a small business! Sure wish we had one here in western Iowa!

All in how one looks at them and how many garage sales, pawn shops and used tool stores one has visited in the past fifty years. JMHO, but having done many, I don't see steal deals at $7.33 each.

FWIW, there are fewer used tool stores every year, as pawn shops on the one end, individual garage sales and non-profit thrift stores on the other, make it difficult to compete. They have long-standing access to the product than a start-up used tool store can have.

Another FWIW, any re-seller of used stuff will tell you the profit comes on the buy. Find and buy complete shops/estates from gomers downsizing or down dead and then sort it out for retail sale.
