i wonder if anyone have bought the used tool that was needed or need extra tool at tool trucks?

i bought lot of used tools at my snap on guy as torque wrench (it is different model as i bought last year), blue point 24oz hammer ball pein, snap on common screwdriver (flat head tip) with little stamp of harley davidson, and else.... for much cheaper than buy new one .... as i paid 10 dollars each for screwdriver and hammer last friday instead buy new for over 40 dollars....

Used stuff hardly ever stays on the trucks, because everybody wants it.

They get alot of trade in's on air tools and boxes. The Air tools usually just kinda sit because they are all beat to hell, but Id probably consider a used 1/4 impact just for novelty.

Occasionally they do have to repo tools. My Matco Guy had a 10-21? set of wrenches, plus a set fo 22-25 or something along those lines. Wanted 250 for them, but I passed them up. I couldnt see spending that sort of cash when I already have a set of snap On's and a few craftsman set's as well. You can get good stuff though. My Matco guy said he is going to work on getting me a used set of impact swivels from snap on for me that guys trade in for matco's.

yes tool trucks sell used tools but my mac tool guy dont accept any trade in... so i am stay with my snap on guy. sometime my snap on guy try rid that used snap on quick so sell me much cheaper than what orignal price is.

also did i tell that i bought used snap on toolboxes from my snap on guy for much cheaper? i did bought it and sorry to not post the picture. i will get picture today as when i got time....

I'm not a professional and I don't buy off a tool truck, but, I buy a lot of used tools. I buy fill in sizes and extras from flea markets. Usually Craftsman. If they break they're replaced under warranty. I always make sure they aren't rusted or abused, because I buy them to use, not return. But, I know they are covered! Besides, it's the thrill of the hunt!! My wife even helps me find them. I keep a list on an index card in my pocket of what I need/want. We look at the list and start hunting and digging when we get there!!!!!

A little away from your topic, cause you were talking about tool truck buying, but wanted to throw my 5 cents worth!

I have bought several Snap On used tools on ebay, nearly new goes for 40-50% of retail.

i did bought a lot and lot of tools on ebay as sockets, ratchets, etc. I am like to buy used tools at my snap on guy because he will make deal with me without make hassle. also he trying to sell used tool quick so he can sell new tool.. so he will sell me so cheap than new and even cheap than ebay because i dont have to wait or pay for shipping.......

When you work in a shop that has the weekly tool truck drop by or visit your pawn shops that s great but when you have none of these options then eBay is your best bet

I guess the shipping is not that bad in Europe; shipping and handling sometime gets out of hand ..

I've had sellers ask for $20-30 to ship just 1 socket to Europe then I won't bid on it at all

Yeah, I know what you mean; I had my eyes on a Bahco metric set so I sent a email to the bloke in UK asking how much for shipping to the states; it was more than the tools ...

i am always to see how much the tool are price new on ebay and see the shipping price so i can see if i can save myself some of money from buy new one but most of time i bought socket set in ebay and paid 10 dollar for shipping then i save myself 100 dollars instead buy new one. sometime i found the tool that i am really want one but look at shipping then it make me turn down for it.
