Used tools on tool truck

What are your opinions on tool truck guys selling used tools on their trucks? I was talking to a few truck dealers and posed the question of why there is not much for good quality tools at pawn shops. I was informed that a local MAC guy has a deal with many of the larger pawn shops to buy all of their truck brand tools. Has anybody heard of this before?

Since the warranty is supposed to be good for the original purchaser, does that cause a conflict of intrest for the MAC guy?

I can see selling used tool boxes and repo tools but I was surprised about this.

Your thoughts?

Doesn't surprise me....
A tool dealer has the funds to buy up everything the pawn shop has and the pawn shop makes an ok profit since their profit margin is so good anyway. The pawn shop doesn't have to list piece by piece online or wait to sell it out of the storefront. You have to remember their money is ******* for long periods of time so sometimes just making a small profit and moving items is good for freeing up money to loan out again.
Personally I like used tools and repo's on the trucks. I buy stuff once in a while if it's something I need. Better than new and I don't have to go to a shop or flea market and hunt it out. It comes right to you.

the pawn shops here hate dealers. I tell them their prices are higher than the truck prices and they get mad. a year later the kra4107 is still there and they tell me to leave the shop. I find it amusing.

Most trucks seem to have a used or rebuilt tool stash; I think used is the way to go... the moment you use a tool once, it is "used". Just like a new car off the lot; have someone else eat the high cost of new! Kinda like when you were a kid with a new pair of sneakers; you don't have to worry about the first scuff or scratch.... the first one is a killer! After that.. no worries! :)

I encourage trade in tools and always have a few quality used items on the truck. Some are purchased by new techs with tight budgets, some by others looking to fill in for lost or missing tools, and some buy items to modify for specific needs.

Our SO driver luckily has had few repos and he's not selling the used stuff -- doesn't take trades. Rarely. Boxes yes, other than that, nope.
