Yesterday I was in a local second-hand store to look at used furniture, which is their specialty. I wandered back to the used tool area which is usually a wasteland of asian junk. To my suprise I found a variety of interesting items. I saw several Barcalo and Vlchek end wrenches and there was a scattering of Craftsman tools as well.
I picked up a Craftsman V 1/2" drive ratchet with the early V-shaped selector, made between 1959 and 1965 for $7.00 and a couple of 1/3" drive Craftsman sockets for 50 cents each. For some reason they tossed the Craftsman sockets in a bin with the asian junk all priced the same.
I had to make a choice between two 7/8" combination wrenches, a Pittsburg (Harbor Freight) long pattern polished chrome model in like new condition for $4.00, or a P&C model in excellent condition (except for owners intitials electroetched on the side of the open end) for $3.00. Boy, what a hard choice! I couldn't justify the extra dollar for the shiny chrome.
