I have a chance to buy some Canadian made used wrenches plus a tool box in decent shape for $30.00,One set of wrenches is in a plastic tool wrap hanging type thing, complete. Rest of the wrenches is a mix of standard and metric seems like no rust on them.Seems like over 40 wrenches or more in total.Would you jump on it?
Thanks

Canada? Isn't that a small island off of Tokyo?? lol

Hey watch it sucker! LOL not sure of the make, they are older, could be Grey Tools Brand. It's not Canadian Tire from off shore, although their Maximum Line is supposedly good for the price..I'd post a picture but that would disclose the ad.The tool box looks like a classic oldie.Anyway of posting the ad without details

Not totally as described, that's a piss off, but they were almost deliverd to my door step. There's a mix,Proto,Thorssen, Taiwan made. .Toolbox is U.S. made.In total I think there's almost 60 wrenches, more Taiwan than Canada, bought them anyway as I need some travel wrenches for the car's,so that's my logic in the purchase.Post pic's later today if possible.

When you have enough free time to get replacement tools everytime one breaks, yeah, good stuff for the price.

When you don't really feel like going back to the store every now and then to get your stuff exchanged... it's not such a great value.

Don't ask me how I know...

So where's the best place to to try and make up a set of older wrenches if you have a few of one brand? On here through GJ classifieds? Ebay? Just wait and try to pick up some more of the same brand from more garage sales.Does anyone on GJ do trades?
Thanks

All of the above. Post in the classifieds here, keep an eye on evilbay, and hit up garagesales and flea markets. It can't hurt and you can always pass if the price is too high.

Larry,

I think I can just barely make out "Canada" on the Proto roll. True? Are the wrenches "Made in Canada" too? I can remember driving past the old Proto plant in London in the late 1980s...

That set alone is worth the $30!

ibgradewell,I think I mentioned that the red plastic roll says they are made in Canada a part of Ingersoll Rand, but the wrenches are stamped made in the USA.The dropped forged wrenches are made in Taiwan. I don't know where the Thorsen wrenches were made, you fellas would know.I still have a bunch of wrenches from the deal that are waiting for a cleanup of some rust.
Thanks for looking!

Thorsen was originated by a salesman from P&C. They were made in the USA, LA, until the late 70's, early 80's, I believe, then in Texas. Have to check Alloy Artifacts. Then they went overseas, Taiwan, Chinese. I have US Thorsen stuff I use alot.
Good deal. The Protos are nice and well worth what you paid.

I'd look at it as the Proto's are a sweet buy, and you got a few bonus wrenches for modifications if needed... nothin' wrong with that!
