I have (4) trays of batteries from an APC UPS. There are (8) batteries in each tray wired in series. I measured about 100V on the main brown plug. Batteries are made by CSB, model HR1221WF2. Label says sealed lead 12V 21W/Cell/1.67V/15min.

I haven't assessed the health of each battery yet but even if some are bad, I'd still have 20+ batteries that I don't know what to do with. Any suggestions?

i had a similar UPS pack i got from work, about half /chargedworked for me. Turned out they fit in my backup battery for my garage door opener, so used 2 there. i use one at my workbench just to have 12v handy to test things. never did find much use elsewhere.

IMHO, You have a solution in search of a problem to solve. I would reconnect them in parallel a nd have a 12 volt supply to crank my generator or power the repurposed car stereo in my Workshop.

I mounted the replaced battery from my electric start mower (required as a term of continuing my marriage status) under my deck to power stair tread lights. It had enough capacity for this purpose but has failed fully now and you've just given me an idea where to find a cheap/free replacement.

So far I've given away 8 batteries and I've used 1 myself. Will keep the rest until I get tired of looking at them or they get in my way and then to the scrap yard they go.

If I had them, I would build them into a 12 volt battery pack, I already have a 1000 watt pure sine inverter.
