Hey gang,
The 56" HF USG tool box I purchased back in 2008 is finally starting to fall apart from daily use. I've got an Epiq in my sights for later this year, so this box needs to get through the daily torture until then.

Getting replacement slides from HF is a pain in the ***, I mean royally, I had four sets of slides "on order" through their parts department and they said it takes about three months to get them to their warehouses in Cali. This was about five months ago now, and every time I call they keep saying that they're on the way, the box won't last much longer at this rate! (EXPECTEDLY!)

So has anyone else had to replace the slides? Any sides available online from another manufacturer or something that will drop in or work with some elbow grease?

I expected the box to only last a few years, and it has, but buying a house first take priority! Damn the timing, haha.

Thanks for the help in advance, it's very much appreciated!

At least there is dim hope of getting the slides. For under $400 items, HF will tell you there are no replacements. One poster discovered that some 44" slide is the same as one used in a 56" box and ordered it for his box. I have the 44" pair. Every day I find another reason to stay out of there. At one point, I knew who made the General boxes. It might be quicker to email them in China if you can trace them down.

I think the maker is Jiansu Tungrun. The 44" set is on page 9 and the 56" inch set is in there, too. I see some of the service carts as well. If you find your box, contact them. What have you got to lose? It often pays to go to the source. For Craftsman boxes I and plenty of others go straight to Waterloo.
