Oh joy, got a new Atlas PV 10,000 lift its is a 220 single phase requiring a 30 circuit. My question is I had a friend who has a similar lift in amp draw and voltage added a Square D 9001 BW72Y Pendent to the existing switch. This is a cable added to original switch box from the original equipment momentary switch to the square d pendant so as to be able to take it to other side of lift and operate it to adjust the placement of truck and lifting arms before going back to main switch to complete lift of vehicle. This has been in operation for a few years of daily use. I purchased the appropriate rated cable for volts and amps bought the Square D 9001 BW72Y Pendent . Upon further research I see the specs on the pendant are for 5 amps continuous 600 volts. I am now hesitant to use this! Can I use it and if not recommend a switch and box to adapt a remote to power the lift from other side? Thank you

Is all motor current really running through the switch? I'd guess there'd be a relay somewhere so that the switch is only carrying a small current.
I have no first-hand knowledge of this lift's circuit design. Just a SWAG.

Added a remote switch to an Eagle lift over 20 yrs ago and it worked great. Was installed by an electrician who worked on large industrial equipment.

That pendant cannot switch that motor directly. Your lift needs to use a contactor, and the pendant needs to be wired into the control circuit.

If modifying motor control circuits aren't your thing, you need an electrician.

There is no motor starter. The supply line is 10 ga on a 30 amp breaker. one leg and neutral go directly to motor. The other leg is interrupted by the on off momentary switch in the control box attached to motor.

OK. You need a contactor and and motor control circuit to use that pendant.

So this is a 120v motor?

You don’t a have a schematic of your equipment ? O&M Manual ? CatLog number?

No it is single phase 220volts 30 amp circuit using two hots/legs and a neutral/ground

Ok i asked that question because you mentioned hot and neutral go to the motor.

but now i see where the confusion lies.

Neutral and ground are NOT the same thing.

Never confuse the 2.

A 240v motor (220v no longer exists) does not need a neutral.
