This last week I picked up a Ridgid 300 pipe threader for $650. I got it to plumb my shop for air with the intention of reselling it afterwards figuring I could make some coin. I remember seeing a post by someone quite awhile back I think on this forum of some metal work he was doing where he used a pipe threader to make baskets and other things out of square and round stock. It was cool as heck what he was making with it and thought to myself I wish I had one at the time to make some of the same things but now that I have one I cant remember what he was making besides baskets. have any of you guys seen anyone do metal work with a pipe threader on a tri-stand other than of course just threading pipe?

I used a 400 , older but similar for custom fishing rods. I used it as a Polish lathe for shaping the cork handles.
Made bale spear points with it too. Used torch to cut the rough point and placed in machine. Then used 4 1/2'' grinder as machine was turning to get the finish taper. Really worked slick.
I never did do those metal baskets but it is on my list. A FOOT PEDAL makes it much safer to use IF you don't have one.
