The Home Depot in Novi, MI wouldn't take 20%, but they gave me 10% off (receipt says Lowe's discount) the Ridgid $199 combo kit. No arguments or dirty looks.

I tried to use a HF coupon tonight at a Home Depot in Suffolk County. Unfortunately it did not work. The cashier was ready to take it when the assistant manager next to her said they do not take HF coupons at all. Was a couple of hundred dollar purchase too so it would have been a major help. Silly me as I just had a 10% HD coupon last week that expired.

Used a HF 25% off at HD today. Never tried it before and wasn't going to push the issue, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. They took it no problems. $20 off a $80 Ridgid shop vac.

Worked yesterday in Highlands Ranch, CO. 25% off the $99 Kreg pocket hole jig. Just went up to the youngest employee I could find and told her here's a coupon for a price match. Will be going there again for a new table saw!

Brand new member here, but I wanted to thank all those who have contributed to the forum. I had success last night at my local Home Depot (Apple Valley, CA) with a Harbor Freight coupon (25%) off. I bought a DeWalt brushless drill/driver combo. The cashier had to call her manager over, but it was approved without much trouble. The manager gave me the cheap ******* look, but that was it. I attached the receipt in case there were any doubters.

Thought I would also share my experience when I tried to do the exact thing at Lowes the day before. The manager there practically laughed me out of the store and said there was no way they would honor a Harbor Freight coupon.

Because of the way Home Depot treats customers they've earned my business for life. I'm done with Lowes.

Due to this thread I just picked up a Dewalt DW475 table saw. It was clearance priced at $329 at Lowes. I used a HF 25% off coupon and received an additional 5% discount for using my Lowes CC. Brought the price from $379.00 to $235.60 before tax.:rocker: Knees started shaking when clerk called the manager for a price over ride. He read the coupon, typed in his code and I walked out with a great saw. Thanks again for all your experiences.

Tried this for the first time today thanks to this thread. Walked out with a nice ridgid worm circ saw for $110 with the 25% off. Sweet! HF is within 4 miles of this particular store. No fuss no muss right at the normal register.

Saw this thread a while back, but hadn't bought anything I felt was similar to what HF sell since then ... until today. I've been looking for a shop vac, and the Rigid at HD was looking good. I would have waited for a sale, but today I thought I'd ask about using a HF coupon.

Service desk said 'yes', but called floor manager to confirm. She said 'sure', as it was for a shop vac (i.e. not for a kitchen or something HF don't even sell). I went and got the vac, took it to the cashier, who said 'no'. So I mentioned how less than two minutes ago, the service desk said 'yes'. She asked the floor manager, who seeing the shop vac in the trolley and therefore knowing I must be the guy she said yes to on the phone a few minutes earlier, said 'yes'.

So, definitely depends who you ask (as the cashier wasn't going to give it at first, and wasn't even going to ask the floor manager, until I said how I'd asked only two minutes before).

Saved $25 off the regular price. So basically got it for a really good sale price. I'm happy.

Was at Concord, CA store.

FWIW I used this on a bathroom vanity light with success as well. All it took was a quick phone call.

I like the quality of HDs products a lot better than lowes so I will be going there more often, although not always with the coupon.

Interesting discussion going on over at WOODWORKING TALK with regard to the Harbor Freight Discount Coupon at Home Depot phenomenon.

:pimpflash

That was interesting. I do find it laughable that people say Home Depot doesn't carry anything that competes with Harbor Freight. Really, that HDX screwdriver set isn't worse than the Pittsburgh Pro set. Um, sure. Or how about air tools compared to the HF air tools? Earthquake anyone?

The reality is that Home Depot, Lowes and Menards sell the same level of **** that Harbor Freight does. The difference is you can buy Ridgid, Dewalt and Bosch at the other stores vs the no name brands at HF. That's also why the HF 25% off coupon comes into play...they don't want to give 25% off on that DeWalt...

I highly doubt they are going to price match and give you a 25% off. They would probably be losing money on that transaction.

I doubt it also, that is why I had to ask the question. Waiting for a response from some one that has tried it. :willy_nil

I have a 25% coupon for HF and $20 off coupon for Home Depot, but the 20 volt Dewalt drill package is $200 at Lowes.

If I try it I will let you know....all they can do is say no :bitchslap and ban me for life.

I've tried it, the register only allows them to take one "line discount" off, in other words the only way it would work is if a manger adjusted the price of the item and took a coupon on top of it.

just tried a 25% off. didnt work. The new girl at the check out said they would but couldn't figure out how to do it. She talked to another cashier and she said no. I told them that the manager approved it last time I was in there (I used one on a ridgid combo -$50) so they got the assistant manager and he said no he also that corporate said no as of May this year.

Tried yesterday on the $199 rigid combo and was told no after the cashier had to ask. Worked at the same store on the same item back in Feb. of this year.

I'd present a 50% off coupon from HF if there were such a thing.

HD is a very profitable company. They don't have to honor any coupons, but they have chosen to.

They currently are sitting on $4.85B in cash and their earnings per share is $3.69 for stock that is currently selling for $80.67 share.

The economy is good right now and if HD wants to take business from poor old HF let them.

If HD is loosing money by honoring HF coupons, maybe they should just by them out.

They took 25% off Dewalt combo kit at my local, took alittle discussion among the cashiers and a manager, I just sat and waited, I was happy to save 54 bucks.

Did the same with the Ridgid kit. Love this thread!

If HD or Lowes does not accept the HF coupon, do you still buy the product or walk?:dunno:

I've tried it twice in the Marion, Ohio Lowe's store and walked both times.

Same with Menards.

The nearest HD is 30 minutes away and I don't feel like driving that far just to get rejected.

Both, depends on how badly I want the item and how good the deal is without the coupon.

Its being an *** but sometimes I am, I'll add the snarky, I'll skip it and buy it at Lowes comments or similar.

I don't know if its getting old or what, but wrong mood and I can be snotty fast when store does not meet my expectations.

OTOH it would be the rare event where I thought I would get HD or Lowes to accept HF coupons. I might try it on some specific item, but I doubt it would ruffle my feathers to have it denied, and then not buy that item.

At my local store i was able to use the HF 25% off coupon.

Used it to buy a new honeywell wifi thermostat orig 225(on sale) - 56

It was my first time trying and was quite suprised when it worked!

I first tried at the registers and they flat out said no (one lady was like "im the head cashier and we dont do this") so i went over to the customer service desk and the guy said "oh yeah, we take those no problem"

Thanks for the thread!
