Using old 150psi tank for 175psi compressor?

I have a Craftsman compressor that burned up last year. I replaced it with a 175psi 7hp. The old tank has a badge on it rating it for 150psi, is that the limit?

Make sure your pressure switch is set to < 150 psi, and that your relief valve is for 150 psi or less.

Use the 150 psi tank downstream of your filter and regulator. I would put it out of the way at the far end of the line near a big air hog.

Would I be better off running the entire system of lines at 175psi off my 80gal tank and regulate at drops, or lines down to 150psi with the extra 15gal at the far end of the shop?

With a 15 gallon tank, remove the motor and pump, and use it as a portable air tank.

The 150 psi stated on that tank is either the max allowable pressure, or the recommended max working pressure.

Your 80 gallon tank likely has a max pressure of 200 psi, and a working pressure of 175 psi.

There will be little to gain by adding that little tank to a system with a working pressure of 175 psi, and an 80 gallon tank.

turn the pressure switch down, to 150 psi, your save money and your main compressor, 99% of air tools are only rated for 100 psi or less, so why do you need 175 psi, yes one wants the compressor to turn on about, 125 psi, so you have plenty of air pressure at 100 psi for tools, but to have 175 psi, I do not see the need in a normal home shop, and then add the tank,

Older thread, but running into same thing today. I pulled my 60 gallon compressor out of storage to tie into the 80 gallon 175 psi setup.
I didn't realize it was sold at only "135 psi", tank is plated to 150psi MAWP at 400*.

For what it's worth, the 175 psi compressor's tank is 200 psi MAWP at 400*

I'm not sure if it makes most sense to keep the big compressor at 175 and put a pressure reducer to feed the smaller compressor to 150, or just turn down the big compressor?
The idea with 2 compressors is extra air storage, redundancy, and the added cfm if needed. The idea was to run the big one at around 150 on/175 off, and the little one at 135 on/150 off. So unless pressure drops a fair bit, both won't run at the same time.

Just curious, does that limit change with temperature? Like PEX is rated 100 psi at 180*, but at room temp that rating is 160psi.
400*... I'd imagine the paint would be cooking off the tank!
And also had me wondering, when it's -20*... it still 150psi?

I need to keep the air system at least ~150psi, some of the tires I air up take near 150 psi.
