I am sending a crew to Ireland to do a job. They are taking their power drills, etc. DeWalt and Makita. what is needed so they can charge their 18V batteries overseas? Just a converter of some kind? I should be able to still use the same battery just need a different plug, right?

some battery chargers are 120/240 rated . check the specs on yours to see. you may just need plug adapter

240 to 110 transformer most tools on building sites here in england are 110 volt if mains powered . most tool rental places have them

As LRB says, sites are usually running 110V. You'll need an adapter though. It's a three pin round yellow plug & socket which they use on the kit. The name of the connector escapes me at the moment. If you're working in domestic premises, a 110V isolation TX is cheap enough to buy.

Don't forget the difference in frequency. Only 50Hz in UK. Not a problem with cordless tools, but AC powered tools will run slower by about 15%.

You'd want an extension cable/lead with four US sockets (or however many chargers you want to plug in) then cut the US plug off and fit a 110V round pin plug, the type that fits 240 to 110 transformers that are used on construction sites here and said transformer.
I got a Porter Cable 12v drill and impact driver and run the charger off a small 240 to 110 transformer, the 60 to 50 hz change doesn't seem to be a problem.

Thanks all- That is a good idea about the rental places. I was thinking they would just need an adapter for the power, 3 pin but i really wasnt sure.
