Using tool boxes for ice chests...

Should I do it? Getting married in a few months and the misses has proclaimed that I am not involved enough in the planning So I figured I'd try to knock this detail out. We need outside cold beverage storage and I do not want to spend a fortune buying a bunch of cute galvanized buckets that will spend the rest of their lives post this evening being kicked out of the way and breeding mosquitoes.

I probably have seven of these old craftsman tool boxes like the one below, they multiply like rabbits it seems. I cringe a bit thinking of filling them with ice and consequently water, but for an evening it would be fine, right?

Outside wedding, hay bale seating, figured I'd stick one at each end of the rows. October, so hopefully the ice won't melt too fast.

We use our wheelbarrow. Another option so you dont have to cringe about using the toolboxes.

use plastic kid pools. probaly find them in the trash at the end of sumer

What better use of a toolbox than to hold the ultimate tool. COLD BEER.

How about you get a plastic tub or two
Fill with ice and use them
When done fill them with garage or house stuff and use them as stacking storage

why not just buy some foam coolers of borrow some real coolers?

Tractor Supply has lots of different sizes of the buckets and they are very inexpensive.

I have a Old Union Tackle box I'm making into a cooler. Need to finish the sheet metal boxes that sit in the box and then spay some foam in it to keep everything cold. It will hold a 6 pack perfectly.

I was at a car swapmeet in N. California years ago. I saw this nice 55 Olds with the owner standing next to the trunk. Everytime some adults would pass by he would open the trunk. It was full of ice and beer. I think he made the most money that day.
