Hi all,

So this will be our 4th house that i remodeled in the last 7 years. Some of you guys might have followed my thread in CA with the pre-built home we did.

However, we moved to UT and bought an older home in a great area against the Wasatch mountain range. We will be redoing the whole house. We have another one on the way and we are doing the majority of the work ourselves. Well I will be doing it as my wife is due in December.

The photos I published happened over the course of three weeks, which pretty much brings up today. We took ownership of the home June 7th.

Here are some quick facts are what we are doing that have done:

1. Gutted all flooring and bathrooms.
2. Demo entire kitchen and add a larger pantry.
3. Re-do all flooring with LVP, tile, and carpet.
4. Close up random openings in master and above the fireplace.
5. Close doors up that are not needed, house had ~24+ doors going down to 18.
6. Add exterior patio for Jacuzzi and outdoor space.
7. Add fencing for dog.
8. Build detached garage.
9. Paint, Trim replacement

Current State-

All flooring is removed.
Kitchen cabinets have been set, and are being templated for counter-tops.
All tile has been ordered and will start to be installed coming next couple of weeks
Patio has been rough graded, and small retaining blocks will be delivered shortly.
Pantry has been expanded and drywalled
90% of drywall has been completed and needs final sanding.

As more time becomes available i will explain a little more time discussing what is going on. Feel free to comment and ask questions, I will do my best to get back on items.

Yup, we are living in the basement. Our sons room will be the office and our room will be the playroom. There were two full kitchens in the house so we just left the one down stairs intact.

Fun times.

Here are the weekends updates-

Upstairs -

Our counter tops templates were 3D scanned and should be here in 10-14 days.

All upstairs floors has been ground down and are as flat as possible for the new LVP. I removed almost 3 - 3 gallon shop vacs of thinset or plywood that was too high. This was not a fun task.

Bathroom's wall continue to be cleaned up and ready for rough plumbing, master bath and kids/upstairs guest. Will post some photos up shortly.

Paint on the wall has started, we were going to repaint all of upstairs but decided to do some feature walls and match the existing to clean up areas that need some help/love.

Downstairs -

No progress, going to get the floor prepped tonight and then finish all the paint tomorrow night as flooring is going to get installed on Wednesday. I was originally was going to do this, but with time constraints and finding items I could contract out and save the most time we decided to pay someone to this for us.

Outside -

We finally finished the concrete and the retaining wall, we are ready to set the outside Jacuzzi.

I still need to run electrical to the box that is about 20' away. Currently it is on rollers so I can move it to the final area.

My wife operated the reach lift and I set the blocks, among my 3.5 yr old was the cab supervisor with her. By the end of the day she was an amazing operator, our son Odyn learned all the correct hand signals and became my signal man outside I would tell him what to say and he would tell Mom with hand signals. I was pretty proud Dad.. Total retaining wall was 5 hour install 14 blocks, 2x2x4 x 2800lbs. Not bad for a pregnant Mom and three year old with a Dad that has a bad back, haha.

Small Updates -

Floor prep was done, and the floor is being installed.

First couple layers of paint is installed on some of the walls.

Most of the flooring upstairs will be installed today and tomorrow the basement will be completed.

The carpet of course was delayed almost 2 weeks due to the COVID issues in shipping and receiving.

I still have to finish the electrical, clean up some items inside, and go for final inspection. I have been working on other projects that have occupied some of my time and started a company.

Here are some photos of the toterhome conversion i am working on.

Let me introduce you to my project. I am currently converting a Kenworth T2000 from an HDT RV to a full blown RV. I have added a 16' box and frame extension done by a professional company in Los Angeles. Here are some specs i am working towards.

Goals -

5 Air Seats in Front Mounted - I removed all the beds and cabinets for this to occur

Front area will have two bunk beds for my boys to sleep once we are parked

Full bath with a full-size shower and larger RV toilet

Full kitchen with a 17” range and cabinets to surround.

Working 120v plugs and 12v plugs throughout for computers etc.

The rear of the box will have a queen bed on a linear actuator and dinette underneath for eating etc.

Specs on the RV:

Water:
180G – Instant Furrion hot water heater

Black: 80G

Grey: 120G

Genset: Either 7500W Onan Diesel OR 4000W Onan Gas

Solar: 2.2KW solar system – 24V 310Ah battery capacity (still finalizing)

Heat/Cool: Minisplit 12k Unit

Fuel: 200G Diesel saddle tanks

Current Status-

All the walls have been framed with metal studs, electrical has been roughed in, plumbing is almost laid out, bathroom has been framed, cabinets are built and awaiting install, aluminum stairs are built waiting to be installed, RV door is installed, dinette has been received finally (6Months) wait, all 5 new seats are mounted, rear rails for queen bed are mounted, front is laid out for the boys, and entire RV is dried in.

Not much going on this weekend.

I emptied our storage unit so I do not have to pay rent on it anymore, which is nice. I was able to grab the shop lights and install one row of them so far, I also hung the outside lights and flood lights so the little ones can play basketball in the dark or I can load up after they are asleep. I finally grabbed my Armada from my buddies shop. Trying to check items of the list before my wrist surgery on Thursday.

Do you guys ever feel like you create chaos in your shop or house before it actually starts to look clean?

Yes...... it’s like backwards progression, then pieces fall in place then bam......done

Till the next time...when it needs cleaned again.
