i thought i would post a picture of these pliers that were made for spring style clamps like were used on vent hoses and fuel lines back in the day.

Those would be handy! I always use linesman pliers because of their wide grip. Standard slip-joint pliers don't seem to be wide enough for some of the fuel line clips. For those wondering what these clamps look like, see below

I would think that those pliers would be better for the wire hose clamps rather than the banded ones.

no they are made specifically for the flat band type. the story on these pliers is they came out of a GM assembly plant where they were used on the line to attatch the vent hose to the front axle on 4wheel drive trucks. the part number on them is the same as the regular 8" slip joint pliers so i'm guessing it was a limmited run of pliers for GM.
