Found this at an estate sale last week. I have been looking for one for a few years now. The old factory is a couple of miles from my house, so I thought it should be easy to find some old advertising, and stuff like that, but it has proven to be very hard to find!! The pliers and adj. wrenches are easy to find here, almost every estate sale has a few Utica pliers, for next to nothing. My neighbor, who use to work at the factory, and collects Utica tools also Has the only other tool board like this that I have ever seen. His is slightly different.

Heres the tool board. It is in mint condition, probably from the mid 1950's.

Still have a few spots to fill. You would not believe the number of different pliers Utica made.

Here is a pic of of some more of my collection.

I've been buying alot of Utica pliers at garage/estate sales the last couple of years. I clean them up, oil them, and sell them at my garage sale. I keep the unique and best stuff for my collection.

Very nicely done, indeed. Are you trying to match the vintage of the board? (Do you know the vintage of the board? My guess would be late 40's/early 50's...) Or are the hanging tools of mixed vintage? Either way, boards are a neat collection display idea - just curious.

On a personal note, I am looking for a wartime Utica 8" adjustable, marked specifically like this...
"8 In. ) < U > < TI > < CA > ( MADE IN U.S.A." with the three-diamond UTICA logo on a panel in the recessed handle, and like this...
"8 In. ) UTICA ( ALLOY STEEL" with the UTICA on a panel on the flip side.

Your 6" might be marked like that, but I can't tell from that photo.

If you have an extra you'd be interested in parting with, please let me know.

That board is beautiful and looks pristine!

I have had a number of Utica pliers pass through my hands, and always felt the quality was great.

Tool boards are great, Wish I had a couple, although I'm not sure where I would put it... (But honey, the colors fit the MBR perfectly...)

Other than all of the tools are pre 1962 and have the Utica, NY stamped on them, they're not all of the same vintage. Most of the pliers Utica produced changed very little through the years, the stamped logo was changed a few times, and the grips.

I checked on the adjustables, and I have a 6" and a 10" in that style, but not an 8". I'll keep an eye out for one. Like I said, there are Utica tools all over the place around here, and garage sale season is just starting to get into full swing. If I run across one I'll pick it up for you.

Thanks for all the comments, I'm pumped to have this board. I'll get a list of the numbers I need and post it up. Also I'm still interested in buying any Utica Tools advertising, or especially I would really like an old Catalog.

On a side note, My neighbor gave me a disc that he made, with a scanned copy of a 1916 Utica Tools catalog. I want to get his permission, and I'll post it up on here for everyone to check out.

That's cool. Heck, I think you could have tools from last year hanging on the board and it would still be cool. In fact, multiples, by generation, would result in a sort of retrospective approach of each tool. I was just curious if you were trying to keep it all the same vintage as the board...

And the materials (type of steel) and finish, but yes, that's true, mainly the markings help us distinguish vintage.

Thanks! 'Ppreciate that. FYI - Utica supplied the 8" adjustable specified in the WW2-era Dodge 3/4-Ton Truck (Weapon Carrier, Command Car, Ambulance, etc) toolkit. That's what I need it for. I have a vintage Diamond Calk or a J.P. Danielson to put in its place right now, and bot are verified wartime government suppliers, but I am aiming my kit at 100% factory class. Hence the need for the correct Utica 8.

Can I use the empty pegs on your board to imply missing pieces in order to return the favor?

I was chatting with a woman at an estate sale today while she was looking for Utica pliers for her display cabinet. She later sent me pictures. Awesome!

I have a few different tools that I would be willing to sell but I am having a hard time putting a value on them. I know some of these posts are old but if somebody would be interested in them and would have a way of valuing them let me know

Generally speaking, I like to occasionally put my vintage tools to work. I love the feel of them in my hands. It's history, to me. I just be careful not to stress them.

I use all my vintage pliers, if they wear out or break I will just scrap them. Although I don't think that is very likely, most of them perform better then there modern equivalents, and that includes the Klein's and CL that are still made today.

Is this the one you’re looking for?

I just used that and it's 6" brother to change an air coupler. They are still in the cupholder in my truck, because they were in my back pocket when I got in my truck.

I'm glad I found this Utica thread. I have a pair of 8 1/2" Utica Lineman pliers that have the 3 diamond logo, but also stamped US. I think these might be older due to the v-shape at the top of the handle pattern? Did the government use Utica pliers like these? The US stamp looks well done, it's not a crude stamp. There also looks to be something else stamped next to the logo, but I can't make it out. Anyone have an idea about these or what era?
