Building a new garage. I am going to seal with diluted sodium silicate. I have found a gallon locally for $12. I see the hardware stores seem to carry a gallon of rutland sodium silicate for about $25. Old Low tech Service floor.
The advantages I see is a low cost first step that can be applied in the first 10 days of a slabs life to seal and toughen it. This seal does not present problems for future methods like expoxy leaving that option open while preventing oil and salt from doing damage while you wait 50 days before applying epoxy to a new floor.
The rutland product makes no atempt to hide the fact it is sodium silicate. Other companies dilute this into a 5 gallon pail which increases shipping cost. They ususaly charge $150-200 for esentially a comodity product. The rutland seems like a resonable product in distribution near most people.
