I don’t really want to remove the post, I don’t have the resources for that, but what about utilizing it. I saw Jack Olsen’s 12-Gauge Garage and he has a post in his garage, not sure if his is load bearing or not, but he incorporated it into a work bench. It looks great! That is kind of what I’m looking for. Anyone else do anything cool/interesting with one.

I’m thinking of making smaller fold down tables and mounting my belt/disc sander, grinder, or different woodworking tools on them.

Someone I knew has a round steel support, pole in hid garage.
He put a collar around it with an arm on it that he hung his mig welder on.
He was able to rotate it around and reach most of the garage with the lead

May be a good place for a bench grinder or any bench mounted tools. Just weld a small platform to the pole and run power down the pole from the ceiling.

I didn’t get a lot of feedback so I began brainstorming some ideas of my own. I recently bought some reclaimed 3/4 inch plywood for $10 a sheet and this is what I'm using. Here is the post in question. I'll never be able to remove this beam, so I'm planning on making using it to my advantage.

I cut the plywood to the width of the boxed in air duct on the ceiling. It makes the area wider, but the post was already in the way to begin with. I have a block under the far front corner. I wanted it up off the ground.

I left the other side open and I have some plans for that. Hopefully I'll be able to get to them soon!!

What about several pull out shelves on that open side. Or a bar with a row of hooks to hang things such a long tools (pipe wrench, large adjustable wrench or even regular box end wrenches). Interesting space to make productive.

I’m planning on some pull out shelves. I have some just organizing it in my head first.

You have lots of options open to you. The first thing that popped into my mind was a "pull-out" tool board mounted in those pockets. Something like this:

It would be a good place to put things that are too long or unwieldy for your tool box - like pry bars, sledge hammers, etc. You could have a wrench board or a board for brooms, dust pans and hand brushes. Or you could have things like levels and hand saws

Or maybe you need a place to store your spray cans?

I like the idea of turning a liability into an asset!

Parts bins? Kind of like the other thread on here about the HF bins on a cart?

My post in the middle of full of big nails with air lines and extension cords, and whatever else ends up there hanging on them and becomes a big tangled mess and I'm always knocking something off of it when I walk by.

Good luck.

Started on the drawers. First one is a test fit. It went okay. The slides are some of the better slides from when I replaced the slides in my Toolbox.

Not sure if this is the way it will stay, but I'm pretty happy with the set up. I've been slowly buying C clamps and was kinda looking for a way to store them. This is what I came up with.

Here it is pushed in. It is a good fit and I'm looking for some good door handles now.

Spray paint can go in this drawer. They just fit two wide.

Good luck.

That is the reason for all of this. Mine was a crazy mess that always frustrated me. I still have to find a place for my extension cords.

The C clamp location looks like its going to be a pain in the ***. Just imagine bending down trying to fiddle with the screw to loosen/tighten to fix the board.

Yeah. I’ve been thinking about that. I have spring clamps which I use more often, but like I said this is a starting point.

I went to Hobby Lobby and found some wrench drawer pulls. They were on closeout for $2.99!

Here is the desk I found my laptop fit great on it!

Here it is with the drawers open. They slide great with those Snap-on slides. I took the slides apart and put some lube on them and they roll great!
