Looking for a resource with personal experience with the components, assembly and installation of this specific fixture. I am in need of advice in shortening the vertical dimension of this chandelier so that it can be hung higher over my dining table. Manufacturer and Dealer support was not helpful; they seem to advise only from the fixture diagrams. Shortening the chains is straightforward but need to know if the center drop tube that houses the wiring to the lamp bases is detachable from both the upper canopy and the lower finial. Would need to cut and re-thread at least one of the ends. Manufacturer rep stated attachment at the canopy is likely welded.

I suggest taking it down to see for yourself how the attachments are made. Threaded or welded.
You‘ll have to take it down anyway to operate on it. You could replace that elaborate light fixture with a cheapie from the big box store or even a bare bulb in a porcelain bulb holder for a while until you get that nice one figured out and modified.

No one will know that particular light. In my experience those center tubes are often threaded (NPT or metric). You can cut and re-thread, just do the geometry with the chains. If it's not threaded, it'll be more difficult. You're solidly in "custom modification" land here, but should be doable.

I thought I replied here but I don't see it. All the light fixtures I have rewired are not welded at the center stem. Start either at the top or bottom. If you rethread do the top above the canopy. It could be metric but you will find a die in pipe thread much easier.

There are also ways to hang that fixture with the canopy tight to the ceiling. Ditch the big ring and chain above.

I'm a fixture expert and that fixture cannot be shorten below the ring mount. you can shorten the chain above the ring only and bring it tight up to the ceiling. above a dining table a fixture can hang low pending when sitting across from someone you can still see there face.

The drop tube is unlikely to be welded its a hand assembled fixture. you could try taking it apart and doing a custom job but I don't recommend it. by doing so you bring the lamp sources close to the ring canopy which throws the proportions of the fixture off and it will create an odd light pattern on your ceiling.

undoubtedly that fixture can be modified , pending skills & tools the OP has. if it were mine I would open it up, see what I'm dealing with, make a plan and go for it. plan revised along the way if needed .
and, for what it's worth, the OP has not logged in since making this post 2 days ago so I'm not sure how high on the priority list this project is
