Any advice on which affordable and bright UV lights for reactive dye leak detection would be appreciated. I don't have regular acess to the tool truck guys but if they are a reasonably affordable option I can meet up with one.

Thanks in advance

I have that same mastercool uv light. Works well so far. Use it for mostly A/C leak detection. Also works well for engine oil uv leak fluids. Exceptional for curing uv curing glue too.

I use a black light bulb from the dollar store in a cheap drop light. Got the bulb on sale after Halloween.

Thanks guys. On the mastercool light, are you guys having any issues seeing illumination of the dye when in a bright shop or if working outside in daylight?

It works in the brighter light but not nearly as well. I usually turn off lights in my garage when I have to use the stuff. Luckily i have a nice patch on my shoe where I dropped some dye to have as a control. I'd characterize it this way. If the leak is big enough, you'll notice in bright light. It's the small leaks that I'd be afraid of missing.

Thanks again folks. I have a UView on the way and I'll see how it works out. Robin Air has a purple handheld that runs off of two CR123 batteries for $70 on Amazon that I may try if the UView isn't bright enough.
