For $26, arrived today just in time for me to port a piece of cast iron with carbide burr, which would send flying sharpnel everywhere.

I had an AOsafety, generic kind shield that is sold at Lowes and HF, that cost $13, but the strap broke and became useless, plus I can never wear it properly. My nose was always hitting the shield, it was real bad.

This fits very well and very adjustable.

I know one would look somewhat dorky wearing this, but so is wearing a pirate eye patch for a week. Think about that.

I have been burned before, I was grinding something, safety glasses on, spark bounced into my eye. Goggles help much more, but protecting the face from flying metal is a good idea too.

You are supposed to wear the regular eye protection inside as well

Yep, have one of those myself - with the clear and shaded lenses so that I can also use it for the plasma cutter.

It may look like you're auditioning for a roll in the latest haz-mat sci-fi thriller, but I find that not only does it work well - but it is also comfortable which means that I'm actually going to use it...

Also, does it have a problem with fogging up? It looks like it would be an issue.

May I humbly suggest you review your Plasma procedures.
After 10 years of searchine, I've finally found a protective equipment manufacturer who will publish recommendations for Plasma, Jackson.
For 0 to 300 amps they recommend a Shade 8 lense.

Jacob: They do offer an anti-fog lens for the shield as well.

Franz©: I thank you for the critique - I've seen suggestions of 5 to 10 for plasma cuttting. The Bionic shield is a 5 and I wear a shaded safety glasses under it - should have mentioned that. Not sure if it adds up to an 8 but seems to be about right for my use. I'll take another look at things, though.

What happens when it gets too scratched to see clearly? Are the clear plastic shields replaceable and if so are they reasonably priced? I have a Fibre-Metal flip down type (F500) and need replacement shields frequently and at almost $10 a pop it really has to be bad for me to spring for another. A less expensive alternative would be great.

My neighbors would scatter, thinking the DEA, FBI, SWAT, etc., was coming to visit. Would be great for freaking out little yappy dogs, though...
