I bought these about one year ago from my Matco guy. They are a bit spendy at about 100$, but they are the best wheel weight pliers available, IMO. The boss has a couple others around and they are junk compared to these. I have yet to be pinched or unable to remove a weight with them.
They have replaceable pieces (available individually), I've gone through one of the plastic remover tips, the hammer tip and hook are still fine. Some lower profile/smaller weights are a little more trouble to get off, but if you hook them right they will come off.
If you deal with tires often, I'd advise trying them.
