So I was out to buy my sweetie a Valentine's card and a little something to make some points. Ended up at HD and got her a new tool set. Nothing fancy, but a decent assortment of things needed around the house. I figured candy and jewelry don't have a lifetime warranty. Think I did okay?

I've only been married 11 years, but you might want to pick up some flowers, just in case...

That gun will shoot far enough that you don't really need it camoed....but that does make it look really cool. New or not, a new car PLUS dinner and a movie makes us normal schmucks look bad.

Oh yea..my present to myself was a new compressor. :bounce:

There are two things most women want for Valentine's Day...Flowers and Jewelry.

I'm afraid that tools may fall into the same category as a vacuum cleaner which is definitely not at the top of wish list. Your wife could be very different though. We'll see.

We'll know on Tuesday..........

Notice in the paper

"Hogans Hero", a short time member of the Garage Journal, died suddenly of an accident Monday evening when new tools he had just bought fell off the table and onto his head while he was on the floor trying to explain to his wife why she needed them.

Investigators stated that it was a freak accident even though 3 screwdrivers were impailed in his head.

The 'closed casket' funeral will be held Friday at "Our Lady of Rejected Valentines Gifts" church.

In lue of flowers, donations should be made to Mrs Hogans Body Massage bennifit fund."

Even I (who has the perfect wife) knows better......

Many years ago I thought the 15th anniversary was the china anniversary. I got my wife a new toilet. I figured what the heck, it is vitreous china. I was wrong, 15 is not the china anniversary and I will never forget it.

I will make sure the GJ Forums get my obit on Tuesday. I only hope the adjustable wrench and needle nose pliers are not a part of the article...

I did buy a steam carpet cleaner for Valentine's one year...and that got great reviews. I also bought the land our house is on for a Valentine's gift. Guess I'm not your typical romatic...of course she isn't either.

I have laughed from the time I decided to pick up the tools at what a monster this forum has made me. Thanks guys.

...I guess I could always get flowers and tell her the tools were from the dog.

My wife? I've tried the "useful gift" approach before. Of course, on the average, men and women are wired differently. We're told that men want something useful and a gift that answers the question, "What can this thing do?" Women? they want something that reminds them of their status and relationship with you.

Now all that being said....I HAVE NOTHING FIGURED OUT!!! I make just as many gifting errors as anyone else. My wife likes surprises...so..... next week when I am out of town on a business trip, she is getting a pajamagram via fedex. Right up her alley!

My wife got dinner being ready when she came home from work, same as most weekdays.

I got another old Bolens tractor to restore. I gotta remember to tell her I bought that . . .

one of these days.

Bought the wife roses to be delivered at work. She likes to show off the prize to her girlfriends at work (but I almost never buy her flowers). Thought I would try to make up for the fact that I couldn't get off work until 7 PM. Anyway, the damn flowers weren't delivered on time - bastages!!! ....And she thought I forgot about the whole thing (Need to get the shop done so I can have a doghouse to go inside)!

I got my wife a lawnmower a couple of years ago and lived to tell about it:D... I'm thinking a mop bucket may be out of the question thou

Worth watching...

Wow! If I bought my wife tools- she'd bounce them off the back of my head!
I was going to buy her a new watch but the clock on the oven works fine. ;)

Seriously- Took my wife & my mom to our favorite restaurant for dinner. Hawaiian music, hula girls, Mai Tais. Ahhh, doesn't get much better than that.

Last time I bought my wife jewelry, she was the first customer in the store to return it the next day. If I bought her flowers, I would not hear the end of what a waste of money it was. I got her shoes this time.
