Validate My Epoxy Plan

So I am getting ready to take a whack at epoxying my garage floor, my wife and i just bought our first house back in May, and I am not sure where the last 2 months went...

I have been doing research like crazy and I wanted to run it past the experts to make sure I am planning to do the right stuff, and I am planning on going with either ArmorPoxy or Rustoleum Pro kit.

1. Grind floor with Home Depot Rental prep tool - I checked the garage floor with water, its sealed. Planning on using the prep tool on one of these http://www6.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/Floor_Polisher/56382881/

2. Clean the hell out of the floor, pressure wash, degrease spots before or after grinding? (pic 3)

3. Acid Etch

4. Clean the hell out of the floor again

5. Epoxy and follow the instructions

Questions I have.

Should I seal the edge of the slab to the foundation? See Pic #1

The floor has a high point in the middle, and cracks that run to it that have to be there on purpose, they are too perfect to be an accident, should I patch them? Pic #2

Ii used the Rustoleum Epoxy Pro kit. I bought it at Lowes.

Clean floor well first
Then grind, then clean off the dust, then epoxy.

No need to acid etch if your grinding.

In pic #1 I would fill with backing rod and joint sealant after epoxy job is finished. You should be able to find a colour that matches your epoxy coating.

Don't forget a primer.
Don't forget a good top coat.
Skip the etch. Your grinding.

Given the products you have narrowed it down to, I would buy from a GJ member (armorpoxy) over a big box store any day.

Could I get away from having to grind if I acid etch instead? Is the acid strong enough to take off the sealer that's on the floor?

imho no

The acid will be rendered useless by the sealer. Same goes for grease/oil stains.

Hi
Generally a sealer cannot be removed by etching. Grinding is best...but, please make sure you use epoxy primer if you grind since grinding opens up the floor and makes it very porous. No need to etch if you grind.

We sell a crack repair epoxy putty that works well to fill cracks and can also fill the edge cracks if they bother you. No liquid coating will fill cracks. Thanks!
