Hi everyone, happened on to a local Lowes grand opening and seen Armstong VCT tiles in stock. They are pretty dull and not as smooth as I thought they would be. Is this typical of a VCT tile? Sales guy says they usually polish and wax floor after they have set.
Then I went to the paint section and seen Valspar Clear Kit for epoxy floor paint.
I was thinking can I use this clear on the VCT tile once set and cured?
I was reading that the VCT must be sanded with 60 or 80 grit.

Any thoughts?

Yes, that's typical of VCT. I like the Armstrong line but I'm not so wild about the Tarkett brand we also carry. I've never heard of using a clearcoat on VCT but that does sound interesting provided that the clear doesn't have a negative reaction to the VCT. As far as the sanding, Armstrong recommends prepping the tile with blue or green pads.

We strongly advise against this. We have had many clients attempt clear coating vet, most of them peeled and failed, others curled. A few were ok **** here is really no way to tell without testing.
