Local seller says his Clausing mill was appraised at $30K, and that new ones cost $60K---yes, $60,000.

I've never bought a new mill, but that just seems really high. Is that real?

Got to love the dreamers. From a machine dealer that machine could fetch $6000-$10000. At an auction $2000-$3000 not including rigging and removal fees. Personal sell $3000-$5000 depending on condition location and tooling included.

With no DRO or powerfeed that wouldn't bring $7500 at a nearby machinery dealer. I bought my Bridgeport 2HP variable speed mill from them for $3750 and added DRO and a powerfeed at a later date. Just about any mill at the dealer was less than 8k unless it was a CNC mill.

We have the exact same mill. We bought it used from a machine shop that was upgrading to all cnc machines and was selling all there manual machines. It has a typical aftermarket power feed. We paid 3k for it about 8 years ago. Overall nice machine and built well. Just as good as a Bridgeport in my opinion.

That is an INSANE asking price for that mill. From the turret up, it is essentially a Bridgeport clone. Despite some of those parts looking different, 90% of them physically interchange.

Maybe he fat fingered, added an extra zero, and meant to write 3000 - 6000 dollars. That is a reasonable price for that mill.

Ask him to share whatever he is smoking. Kondias were made in Spain from the 60's to the early 80's and were pretty nice machines but parts were hard to get back then and I imagine worse now. If Clausing has any they are going to be expensive. Looks like a nice $2500 to $3500 machine.
