Last year I paid $550 for a "87 Snap on KR560 roller. I saw an ad for a KR650 top box in really good condition for $850. Seems a little high but all in, $1400 doesn't seem too bad. Thanks for any opinions.

That's way high for just that top box. Even in really nice condition they are in the sub $500 range.

I agree that price is high. However top boxes are much harder to find then bottoms. (especially a match to the bottom in color, style and condition)

They are also much tougher to sell. I'd start talking to the seller and see if you can negotiate a deal.

the price might be high in some areas of the country, and a deal in another area....

all depends on condition,

how bad you want it,

and how willing you are to pay for it...

Well I pulled the trigger. Here's the KR650 on top of my KR560 after cleaning and polishing. Overall in really nice shape for its age, 1990. The roller is 1987.The paint on the roller isn"t quite as nice as the picture makes it look. Thanks again everyone for the advice.

Very nice setup. What did you end up getting it for? I need to find a KR660 to hold up my KR290

I have the same exact setup. No bearings except the bottom drawer. I won't tell you what I paid, it was a steal and I got an extra top chest with my deal. Think I sold the extra top box for $350 in well used but solid condition. I don't remember it being very easy, nor hard to sell at that price. Overall vale I have listed the 3pc set over the years for $1,200 and never got much interest. Was always planning to upgrade to a newer KRL, but now it really fits me perfect as I am no longer actively adding to the tool set. Have about 2 empty top drawers when needed so it's my box for the long haul I guess. Also doesn't take up much floor space and very very well made.

Thanks guys. I ended paying $800 for the top. More than I would have liked, but I wasn't finding anything. I'll be selling my 4 year old Craftsman so that will help offset the price (a little bit). I really appreciate the quality of these and that they will be around for a long time. The roller really need some love when I got it. All in all, perfect for my home shop. Now I gotta quit looking at the ads.
