Value of this Mac box?

Someone on craigslist is selling this Mac Tools box for $1200 obo, and said lowest he'll take is $1000. I want to know the value of it so I know what to offer him. It has surface rust around the edges in the back. The box measures 58 inches wide without the handles, 26 inches deep, and 43 inches tall.

He said he doesn't have a key for it, but a new key and lock can be ordered and shouldn't be hard to install from eBay.

My question is, will I run into problems putting a new lock/key on it? Like some of the drawers won't lock, but some do? How hard is it to replace? He's an hour and a half away from me and would like to know if I should pull the trigger on it, or make an offer. Thanks and lmk!

Can't tell you anything from that tiny picture, but in good condition that box will bring $1000 all day long, keys or not.

Like the drawer layout, too many newer boxes come with fewer/deeper drawers. If the only issues are the lock and minor cosmetics, it's worth the $1200. all day long, IMO.

Eight: i think another member in Wisconsin was asking about a similar box like that and he thought it was worth $2000 so $1,000 sounds good if it isn't dented and all the drawers work like they should.

not sure about the lock, but you might just call your local Mac truck guy and see how much he charges to re key it.
