Value of used Bendpak SP-7X

I have a local lead about a few SP-7X scissor lifts coming up for sale. They were built in 2008 and have been in regular use at a dealership and are now being replaced.

Any thoughts on the fair market value of these units?

I would question why they are being replaced. Seams quite new to be replaced. Then on value it depends on condition and the answer to my first question.

Fair enough. All I have seen is a couple pictures of them in the current shop. The shop is clean and well organized and the lift looks used but not abused. Unfortunately that's all I know right now. I asked if the seller will have a demo unit set up but he said they will all be sold quickly and he's not planning on setting any up in his shop.

I've watched that video many times before! What range of vehicles have you had on your lift? I need to lift a miata, small hatchback, and 1/2 ton truck. Since it's used I'm not sure if it will come with the rubber blocks that you used on your BMW. I should know this, but are those needed?

I have an answer to this now. The installer said that the dealership repaired a cracked weld with a piece of metal (so I assume that it failed their inspection). And they are replacing all 4 of them with new versions of the same model. All communication so far has been via email and I need to talk to him in person because I'm not clear if all 4 of them had a cracked weld, and where the crack was.

Got a little more of the story but haven't spoken with anyone who's actually seen the lifts yet.

What I know is the dealership had one or more of the SP-7X lifts start to fail along one of the brace plates that are inside the scissors arms, so they welded additional plates overtop the old ones in either (or maybe both) of the locations circled in red in the attached image. The lift in this picture is just one off the internet and not the actual lift in question.

The lifts failed inspection so that's why they are buying replacements.

If they are failing, I'd guess whatever the value of scrap is in your area... I probably wouldn't suggest using them... Maybe see what Jeff from Bendpak on the board says about the failure.

Since they are still being used at the dealership I'm not sure I would consider them failing - but abused and repaired for sure. The guy selling them seems to have enough confidence in them to sell one to his brother and coworker. Dunno.

Ohhhh... so because he's ALSO willing to risk his brother and co-worker, it's "safe" for you too?




Remember, we're talking about a car dealer here. We all know they've never told a fib to sell something, right? (present company excluded, of course)



Sorry, but unless a certified inspector told me that they are SAFE, no way I'd be under that.
