Value of vintage snap on

Looking for information on what 5/8 drive snapon sockets are worth. Want to sell for a fair price. They are the s o stamp over with the knurled band around the center. I have the 7/8”, 15/16”, 31/32”, 1 1/8”, 1 1/4”, 1 3/8”, and 1 7/16”. The 7/8” id newer snd has snapon stamped on it but still has the knurled band. Any help would be appreciated.

I seem to collect some useless stuff. I have one odd-ball SnapOn "T" handle drive. It came in a box of tools. I have never used this "T" handle because the square drive is 5/16". I do not want to modify it on the off-chance someone is collecting this stuff.

Those are 1/2” drive 5/8 sockets. Mine are 5/8 drive sockets. From what i can find for info they are from the 1920’s.

Sorry about my first response. All i saw on my end was the ebay link. Your not wrong about the tools being somewhat useless. They are very interesting though. I spoke yo my snapon dealer about them and he didn’t know they use to make such a thing. Originally I purchased them because they were listed online as 1/2” drive snapon. I found out later when they wouldn’t fit.

Our local power utility companies used (and may still use) 5/8 drive tools. I believe this is partially to reduce pilferage, but that size drive will accommodate sockets with slightly larger size openings, which perhaps covers the sizes used in that trade better.

I have a few of the older SO sockets in this size, plus an extension or two.

Apex made 5/8 drive sockets. I believe that SO made an adapter from 3/4 drive down to 5/8. Here is a link to Apex adapters:

apparently they made one from 1/2" female to 5/8" male. Just bites you have to purchase 12 of them.

They were popular in the 20s. Snap on switched to 3/4 drive around 1930. 5/8 was continued for sometime in the industrial applications. Here is a set from 1930.

What you have is from the very early days of Snap-on, as it shows up in the first catalog:

There is nothing wrong or against the rules with openly inquiring about the availability of a tool. You will see things like, "Oh, I need that socket to complete this set...," or "I've been looking for one of those forever...," or as direct as "Are you planning to keep that?" etc. Or you can use the Private Message (PM) function. With PMs, only you and the other person see the messages. And the site doesn't turn into just another big digital swap meet. To send someone a PM, click on the envelope icon at the top right and 'Start conversation'. Or click on someone's name, then 'Start conversation.' Don't get me wrong. There is selling, buying, and trading going on amongst GJ members. But the GJ Vintage Board is not an openly marketplace environment, like FB. Awesome! I appreciate that. And you explained that perfectly I definitely don't want to disrupt the flow of what is going on here. I'll have to go back through all the rules and guidelines again to make sure I don't cross any boundaries. I like to contribute to others collections almost as much as building my own but also i like to share what I have collected I think I can incorporate all those things in without abusing the guidelines.
