My stepbrother sent me a photo of some equipment they are trying to sell off at his shop. Two Clausing DPs and a table. Looks very clean, with no arcs of shame. Supposedly the Ryobi thing in the middle gets to stay. :dunno: They're asking $400 OBO for everything. Any thoughts? I already have a nice floor standing drill press, but if it is a good investment, I wouldn't mind picking it up and holding on to it for awhile.

Those are gread drill presses, I have one just like that but unfortunately without the variable speed setup. I have yet to make a table for mine, but the head fit onto the column of another cheap drill press I had and has been doing service for a few years for me.

Check the phase on the motors. If single phase or if you have incoming 3 phase at your shop I'd grab it. Ain't going to be fun to move manually, but would be a slick drill press setup if you have the space, $, and power available.

Make sure you check out the drive system on both of them. They use a VS reeves type drive setup, if it needs to be replaced or even repaired it can be a very $ and time consuming process.

For that whole thing and the arbor press... I think that's a good price
I would get rid of the ryobi DP and beep the thing as a drill press and general work table

I really like the channel along the perimeter of the table. I'd buy it for sure. Definitely from a production environment.

The machines don't look too bad. You'll need a phase converter to run them, or two VFD's as they're likely 3-phase.

I notice it even includes a free ******** game board!

If they aren't 3 Ph, that is one heck of a good price in my opinion. That cast table would bring more than that.

Howcum, whyfor, you ain't got them, yet???:headscrat:headscrat

That table is worth more than they're asking for the package...:3gears:

I'D hate to think what the whole set up weighs, however...you're going to need some help, at both ends, to move that hunk of iron...:shocking::shocking:

I would love to have them sitting in my garage...:thumbup:

Where's your brother live? Shipping would be prohibitively expensive for this, which significantly reduces its value in anything but the local market.

My stepbrother lives and works very close to me, so my freight cost is a six pack and a cheeseburger. Locally, I can think of a few places that would take it, should I decide to part with it.

Check the phase on the motors. If single phase or if you have incoming 3 phase at your shop I'd grab it. Ain't going to be fun to move manually, but would be a slick drill press setup if you have the space, $, and power available.

I am not sure what the power situation on the drill side is, but my shop is wired for 3 phase, so there shouldn't be an issue there!

I was waiting for my year end bonus check to come. :bounce: Yeah, the weight is no joke. My shop is on the second floor of an industrial building; I am thankful that my side of the building has loading docks and freight elevators. It makes moving the big stuff a lot easier.

You could unbolt the heads but the table weight is super heavy, good thing that you are set up for three phase. For that price you are making out like a bandit, clausing make fantastic machines.

I would pick it up for that. I really don't like those gang drills but for that price grab it if you can use it. We make those tables at work.

Like others mentioned that is a great deal. The table is awesome.

If you can find bases for them even better. I think the columns are the same size diameter for the floor mount or table mount base, just the tabletop ones columns are shorter.
