I use the basic 4 way tool. That locking Astro one looks nice though.
I use them so rarely that I'm not that fussy. I have a no name four way one from my bicycle repair days in my youth but I'm just as likely to grab one of the freeby Snap-On screwdrivers with the valve core tool on the end that the dealers used to give out.
I use Milton S-446 2-in-1 Valve Tool most of the time.

I also have the Astro Pneumatic Tool (Astro 9512 The Grabber - Clamping Valve Core Removal Tool) and found it awkward to use. I like the idea, but I couldn't get it to operate like it's design to function. When the grabber prongs are extend to the point where it can grab the stem, it doesn't fit inside the valve core.

Uhhh... I don't think it's made for bike tire valve stems like that. It works fine on passenger car tires, co-worker has one. Can get a pic
i like mine

You ****. When I bought mine a couple years ago, the only one on the truck was orange. I really wanted the green one.
My Astro works fine on my bicycles. Im pretty sure that a schrader valve core on a bike is the same size as a car. I do believe the part that seals can be made from different materials but the size should be the same. Picture is the core from my BMX bike. (Please correct me if I am wrong)

Usually don't care which one I grab, they all get the job done

Hmm, yeah good info. Def looks different than the above (presta valve?) but same as passenger car.
The picture is still a schrader. I believe the spring on the bottom just adds some pressure so keep the valve from leaking.

Yeah, it looks weird to me though. See how the jaws are still extended when it's holding the valve?
The one I've seen the jaws completely recede when holding onto the valve's stem. Something awkward is going on there.
I agree with you but I think it's something with the tool. Maybe a defect or a burr that is making it catch.

PM sent. Sounds like I got a defective tool.
If that is the case, rshadd hit me up with an address I'll send out a replacement.
