Valve ID

Does anyone know what this valve is used for? You can blow air through the bottom but not the top. It's about 2- 1/2 inches long. The body is a hard plastic. You can screw the brass head onto a tire valve stem. Thanks.

I guess I do not understand your description... You can blow air through the bottom but not the top? I only see one hole which I assume is the top? If it is a valve where is the handle to turn it open and closed?

You can blow air through the black part but not the round brass head. Maybe calling it a valve is the wrong description. This is how the other end looks.

There is a pin that resembles a tire valve but it can't be depressed. The other end I cannot say what it fits. The black material is a hard plastic. I took a tire valve and it screwed onto the brass end.

The pin should be fixed to depress the receiving Schrader valve. I’ve never tried to blow air backwards into an air chuck, but it seems like they always act like a check valve, blowing excess air sideways, not down the hose. Not up to a trip to the garage to check mine now.

I was at my Brother's house yesterday and he showed it to me. I had no clue what it was. I blew air through the brass part and nothing happened. I was able to blow air through the black part.

a shrader coupler for an old hand pump with a check valve so air that enters the tire doesn't backfeed?

I will venture a guess that it is the piece that screws on the tire of one of the inflator rigs that were pretty common in the 1950's and earlier. A hose screwed on the piece you have and went to a part that screwed into the spark plug hole in one of the cylinders on the engine. Running the engine used cylinder compression to operate and inflate the tire.

Dang, I keep trying to forget about those things. Was surprised when I googled it how many were out there, new, being offered.

None of the older ones had a fancy end, most were just a little thread on nub. Nothing definitive from that.
