Variable speed buffer

I just bought the above buffer and wanted to know you can see the knob
It can go as slow as 2000rpm. Which is pretty good because most don't adjust or only have 1/2 speed
Does that mean you can use a external dimmer thing to slow this kind of motor some more? Although I think using a smaller wheel will decrease the sfpm a bit as well (for plastic headlights or something avoid overheating)

I have used a small foot pedal adapter that allows me to adjust variable speeds. It is old, but I believe made by a company called foredom
