Variance approved, time to build!

Greetings!
For the past year or so I've been reading and learning a lot on the forums.
I've wanted to build a garage for a long time. Life and who knows what (like running into a horse and totaling my car) has gotten the way but it's finally time!

I just had my size variance approved last night for a little over 1,000 s.f. garage (max here for my lot size is 900). I know it's nothing compared to some of the monster garages here, but I'm excited!

It was a lot of paperwork, stress, and time for just that little extra space, but in the end I think it was worth it.

I'm anxious to build this by myself without any help other than having someone pour the concrete. I love building things, this will be the biggest thing I've done but I can't wait to get started!

Now comes the exciting time of working up the blueprints, buying more tools to build it, and figuring out all of the other things that I'll need to know.

I hope to be an active participant in the forums here!

Welcome. 1000 ftx2? Heck yeah that will be great. We are near the end of a new house build w/ a 28x32 so I did the multiplication and you have 104 extra ft. I have added additions to garages in two houses and one thing I did to get height for the least $ is run the block walls up 3 courses above the floor. Both builders said block is cheaper than 2x4. So you add three extra blocks and build a conventional 8 ft wall and have 10+ ft ceiling. that won't get you full lift height but will allow a scissor lift.

Welcome to the forum, my variance was approved last year and I'm starting on a 24 x 36 in spring. Can't wait for the project it's going to be a blast.
