I remember that build. Great looking building. If memory serves me right, the guy who put it up didn't need the full depth of the garage, so he could manuever around the post, making it a non-issue.

My vote would be yes. But depending on how deep your garage is going to be, you're going to have to beef up that middle joist considerably, and thus beef up the header above the garage door as well to take the increased weight/force.

Kinda like the roof line. Lookin for maybe something along these lines, nothing rong with gambrel style. Trying to blend with the woods its in, without trying to reinvent the " garage " 30' x 40' ish any plans come to mind?
