Anyone ever use it? A local SO truck guy used it on an ancient ratchet I had him rebuild recently.

Kind of an expensive lube for a tool. (I know, had to jump on the wagon.)

Won't be as good if left in the sun. Melts at 100 F. I'd use a more industrial grease. But, hey, it is petroleum jelly. (Mineral based)

it may be okay in coarse tooth ratchets, most of them dont care whats in them.

the thing with petroleum jelly is that it has no lubricant type additives, how much that would bother a ratchet, i have no idea. it does melt just barely above body temp, so it will run out of unsealed ratchets if you are working on something warm, or in direct sun.

Sounds like it's just a bad alternative to superlube. Superlube is the silicone equivalent of the petroleum based vaseline. It's about the same consistency as vaseline except it's specifically designed to be much better as a lube than vaseline in every way.

I work in a transmission shop, so I use this stuff on just about everything. Works great in the ratchets I've used it in. Blue-Goo specifically, the green is better left to its original application in my experience.

Good Choice!

I'm still fond of my gear oil. Just find some that doesn't have the odor...

Lucas Assembly Lube is still my first choice. Vaseline would run smoother that having nothing in the ratchet.

I rebuilt my Dual 80's with RLL wich is like a heavy gear oil. I think vasoline would be to thick and it has no anti wear additives granted i wouldnt think you would need many on a ratchet. granted my mac micro came from the factory with no lube, odd i thought but it was so small when i took it appart i couldnt even visualize oiling it.
