Just thought I'd pass this along...YMMV. My local Walmart is clearancing Vaughan and Channelock stuff, so it's worth a check if your Walmart carries these brands (not all of them do). I've been waiting for this as I knew it would happen eventually with tools sitting next to them for almost half the price.

just remember that walmart work with there vendors, in this case channellock and vaughan. To reduce the price of there items by cheaping up the way they are made. Look closely at the items to make sure they are the same. I use to work at a place that sold alot of confectioneries to walmart, target, ect. Walmart used different/cheaper ingredents and smaller sizes to reduce the cost. Not for sure if they do the same with tool but make sure they are the same as norm and if they are still warrantied

To add to what R_olson said, they also in a lot of cases have different part/sku/model numbers. So might be handy to do a quick google search on a phone while youre at Walmart (assuming you find them on clearance). Easy way to identify a "Walmart only" item.

All these tools are the exact same as the original. Right now the prices are about $5 cheaper but I expect the price to go lower. If I had to guess, they are discontinuing both lines.

They are most likely discontinuing the line at Walmart due to what I hope is pushback from Channellock.
As stated above, Walmart loves to control their suppliers and even force some out of business.I hope Channellock stood up to them and said piss off :3gears:

In the case of my Walmart they just weren't selling. I had been keeping an eye on the shelves. It's not real surprising.

Got a nice Vaughn ballpien for $11!

They had end nips and fence pliers on sale but the traditional channel locks were full price.

Forget Wal-Mart!

Buy from Harry Epstein! www.harryepstein.com

They have Vaughn and Grayvik (Vaughn 2nds I believe) - many less than $10. Shipping is quick and reasonable.

No, I don't work for them, but I would if I lived in Kansas City!

Wal-mart is obiously unhappy with Channellock due to them being manaufactured in the USA. THey would much rather prefer line their deep pockets with profits from those Chinese made goods.

FYI - IF you have a Menards, they have a channellocks on sale at least 3 or 4 times per year. The price on a set of linemans pliars maybe is normally 19 and they ahve them for 14. Gas pliars normal price 22 (set of 2) down to 16 or 17.

I bought a few of channellock pliers at walmart including some fence pliers. They are excellent for pulling staples which is their primary use for me at the moment.

Actually ive been seeing more made in the USA items at Walmart. Check in the Housewares section. I needed a shallow metal pan to drain fluid in and I got a USA made metal cake pan from wally world for $2. Thicker metal not one of the one-use aluminum ones. I even saw box fans "made in the USA with chinese made motor"

Went to another Walmart and they had a Vaughn rubber mallet on clearance.
This location also had two sizes of end nippers on clearance as well as the fence pliers.
Seems they're keeping the "traditional" cbannellocks.

I've seen more USA items at Walmart than Target lately.

Its getting expensive to ship stuff across the ocean.

Combine that with the products that are easy to manufacture (plastics, one piece metal products, and bulky low priced items) and theres a lot more USA made stuff than there used to be.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but i recently needed a new pillow and walmart had USA made believe it or not. Got the cake/drain pan too.

As for Wally World discontinuing Channellock and Vaughan, its because the average walmart shopper would rather pay $12.98 for a 2-pack of stanley pliers (Cheap chinese made, no warranty) than pay $20 for a 2-pack of Channellock that are USA made and you'll never have a problem with

what is the shipping cost, is it based on the amount? I did not see anywhere to check shipping.

From Epstein its based on size and weight of objects. They've got reasonable shipping prices though. I ordered in July and my order shipped UPS Ground for around 10 bucks for a few items.

Look in the shopping cart or checkout and it should show you shipping costs.

OK Thanks,
based on size and weight of objects makes more sense to me,
The way some places do, basing it on the amount, I don't get it.
you could have a little wee thing that costs $200.00, and they charge you more shipping , or you could have a big heavy thing for $10.00, and your shipping is less.

I just went to Walmart and found a 24 oz Vaughan rubber mallet in the clearance end cap. Not tag and it was the only one so I brought it to the counter where the lady asked one of the other workers who went to look for it then came back and told me they don't even carry those hammers so I explained it was in the clearance etc. and he disappeared into the back for 10 mins came out and said he couldnt find anything in the system and sold it to me for a $1. Score! YMMV

No channel locks. Lots of chi com stanley junk

I looked today, the only pair of Channellocks was a pair of regular channellocks, maybe 430s. They weren't marked down.

oh yeah, I did see on other same pair in the clearance section but they had no sticker on them. I should have found a price scanner and checked them out.
