Vaughan vs Dasco

I'm looking at picking up one of those mini pry/trim bar sets, that I can keep in my odd-job bag.

I was going to grab the Dasco 91, but noticed Vaughan has what appears to be an identical set (comprising 222, 444 and BT90) which I can get a little cheaper.

Given that Vaughan now own Dasco is it safe to assume they are one and the same thing?
One review I saw said the Dasco were stronger and finished better than the Vaughan, but I can't see how it would make any sense for them to run two different production lines for the same thing.

I looked at some dasco chisels and punches. Pretty crappy for USA made tools. I would bet on Vaughan in general

I haven't seen the vaughn version, but I have a dasco set. They're fine for what they're intended to be used for. They're not perfect, but they work well, and they're cheap. I expect the Vaughn set is identical, unless vaughan has shutdown the Dasco plant and moved the forging to their facilities.

I agree on the comment about the Dasco chisels, but all the ones I have are for masonry. They work just fine for that, with the acceptable level of performance, and again, they're cheap. (Last time I bought some, they were cheaper at a masonry supplier than Chinese junk was at a hardware store.) I think I had a set of Dasco pin punches once, but don't anymore, because they all bent. I don't know if that's the tool or the user, because I've bent or broken lots of punches from more expensive brands. You are probably not supposed to hit a 1/8 punch with a six pound hammer, but where's the fun in that?

Ok thanks guys, probably not worth paying the extra few bucks for the Dasco then.
They appear to be the same part numbers as well.

I suspect the review I saw was more a result of the variable quality control then any intentional manufacturing difference.
