Hey all was just curious as to how much extra height u gain with vaulting a ceiling I have ten foot walls and have a height restriction so that's the max I can go. Any info would be awesome.
Vault or not to vault that is the question

We had a 15-foot max height restriction so we went with 8'6" walls and a vaulted roof. I have almost 12-feet to the peak of the scissor trusses. You can see some of the walls etc. here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205443&showall=1

The gained height will depend on the pitch and span of the roof. You should be able to estimate the height with a sketch.
I used a King's truss on 7'6" wall plates to get about 11' in the centre and it was worth it to me. Also the truss strength was important but other designs should get height without the cost.
Go for the height if you can afford it.

I love mine. 14' high in the center. Much more open feeling than my back garage. Pictures are in the link below.
