vct and epoxy

I want to do a checkerboard pattern in new shop build. I want to use the epoxy-coat system but i want the pattern. So I want to know can i lay down an armstrong vct tile system and then use a clear epoxy over it to protect? I know it sounds really bad to ask but i am a bike builder not a contractor.

after talking to jamie at epoxy-coat i was able to come up with two avenues. The first is to use the tiles and then put an epoxy clear and the grit on top of it. OR the second being to go complete epoxy. Jamie said that they have done both and the only concern would be if the Tile would make a good bond with the cement. Just thought i would share some info. Don't hesitate to post your thoughts on the idea

I would like to see pictures of that... I dont see how over time it would hold up very well. Perhaps Im wrong.

I am planning on doing VCT tile and keeping it waxed for the shine. Epoxy sounds like a maintenance free shine application, but... Id like to see it done. If it didnt turn out right, youve created a labor intensive mess.

You can do the checker-board pattern. Paint the white down first. After it has cured, tape off in a double tape technique- a piece of tape on each side of the lines, forming a grid. Remove the alternate squares tape. Paint in the black. Remove all the tape. Clear coat over everything.
