I've had my vct floor down for about 3 months now and I have 1 major complaint. When I let my cars down from the lift or jack, as the suspension settles (independent suspension) it pushes the tiles out of place and,of course, breaks them in the process. I have tried 2 different glues (henry and whatever HD sells) and I have tried parking the tires on 2x2 Masonite squares slick side down. Same result.

Anyone have solutions? And please don't beat me over the head with ceramic tile. Can't go back. Daytime temps in the garage approach 100 deg. this time of year.

Thanks
Bud

Are the tiles being forced up to the front/back of the car or to the right/left?

Are these cars front wheel drive and are you using the parking brake? The only time I have had problems with the tiles coming up is when it is a FWD automatic with the parking brake set.

I would think as long as either the front or rear tires are able to rotate freely that should prevent the tiles from coming up.

That's not the problem. Jacking up the front, or the rear on a car with IRS, lets the suspension hang free and the camber goes to maximum. When you let the car down the wheels try to side thrust back to the original static contact patch. This puts a lateral force on the tile and pulls it up.

Yeah, like bobscogin said. I just picked up a few pieces of short nap close weave commercial carpet. I'll try those upside down and see what happens.
