After much deliberation and having epoxy floors for the last 20 years I have decided on VCT for the Garage...it will not see any welding and no vehicle parking. It all starts with a simple design and then goes off the chart...
I masked off the first area because I am using a spray glue...Tarkett...little pricey but it is mandated by Wal Mart in all of their new builds...will keep adding pics but the checkers go down this weekend.

Looks like a cool design. What did you use to fill your control cuts?

I used a product called Ardex Feather Finish...taped both sides of the joint, putty knifed in and sanded smooth.

I'd like to hear more about your location and whether or not your garage is climate controlled. I love the look of VCT but shy away from the thought since so many manufactures shun the idea of use in a garage without a certain controlled climate.

Looks great so far! Great job.

Thanks all for the comments!...and I also want to Thank all that contributed to the forums as I have done a lot of reading before making my decision and I sure feel it was extremely helpful.

Where did you buy the glue?
Looks good.
Any commercial flooring supply house can get it..it's not cheap if you buy it..about $40 a can which does more than what they advertise...175 sq ft

I am in Southern California and as far as climate control about the only thing I can say is it was well insulated with R-13 in the walls and R-30 in the attic and both roll up doors are insulated.

I'd say that's about as ideal as one could hope for.

Thanks for the reply.

Where did you pick up the Ardex Feather finish? Does Lowes or Home Depot carry this stuff?

I purchased the Ardex brand at a White Cap commercial house...just saw today HD is selling the Henry's feather finish with the Ardex name when I was looking in the VCT polish and cleaner section

What did you top coat with? I'm like others, I like the looks of the VCT, but with our winters and the grit they spread on the roads, I'd be afraid to put it down. If it would have a topcoat of a clear that could be redone every couple of years, then it may sway me to go that route. But if the grit is going to tear things up, then I wouldn't go that way. I've yet to hear from anyone that has VCT in our winter weather climate as to how it holds up.

As far as your floor, that just looks fantastic. I'd love for our garage floors to look like that. I may still pull the trigger for VCT at some stage on the house garage. Usually if it's ****** out, the wife doesn't drive her car in it. I could probably get by putting a large vinyl mat down for the wet or snowy, gritty days. She's the only one that parks in the house garage as I park in my detached garage.

Wow. The floor looks great finished. As soon as it warms up here a bit I'll be starting my VCT install. Planning on a three tone weave pattern which I hope will look sharp.

Great job Ch3No2!

Damn that looks great!!!! I'd like to do that to my garage on the house, but I need to strip the paint off of the floor somehow.

So.... 1 gal will do 400 sq ft at 5 coats. Does this mean that you can get 2000 sq. ft. coverage from a gallon? Thanks. Oh.....your floor looks great.

Wow! That is a garage!!

I love the floor. It looks great. I don't think I would ever drive anything in there... EVER. And if I absolutely had to I would lay down rugs or something so I didn't wreck it.
