So I have a heated garage that I want to install vct on. Think it is okay to do now even with winter coming up on us (live in ny)? Can crank the heat up in advance. Thoughts? Precautions? Thanks.
I am doing mine right now....Armstrong VCT adhesive says 65 degrees minimum on the label. If you have heat, and can keep your garage doors closed, you should be OK. Be careful of the air/slab temp near the doors...especially if they are not insulated. I have been doing the majority of the floor with garage temps between 63 and 67 for the last month here in Dayton,Oh.....
but am waiting for a nice sunny day to lay the tiles closest to the garage doors.
I installed mine in the early spring, though the temperatures here aren't as bad as NY. I ran a propane heater for a couple of days to bring up the temperature. Remember that it is the floor temperature you care about, not just the air temperature. As mentioned previously, use an infrared temperature reader to check your floor. Also make sure your tiles are in the garage for a while so they're the same temperature before installing.
