VCT over OSB: What prep is necessary?

The floor (see, this is a flooring question) in my garage loft is OSB, with ground in drywall residue serving as its only "finish". I'd like to get a more usable floor down, and VCT seems like a nice inexpensive choice. What do I need to do to prep the surface? Would a simple vacuuming be enough, or do I actually need to "clean" the floor?

No expert here, but I would assume that the drywall dusty residue will have to come off before you apply the VCT mastic. It's all in the preparation.

Even if you have OSB down, you will want to put down a new subfloor over that which is suitable for VCT or linoleum. Quite a few will put Luan down before putting down a vinyl tile.
